Obituary for Barry A. Van Name

Barry Allen Van Name, of Patterson, NY died at home with his wife, son and granddaughter on May 13, 2021. He was 81 years old.
Born on March 29, 1940 in New York City, NY son of the late Esmund A. and Hazel B. (Miller) Van Name. Barry graduated from Saint Paul’s High School in Garden City, NY in 1957. He continued his education at Hofstra University in Garden City, NY.
Barry met the love of his life at a youth meet and greet at their local church. On August 12, 1960 he married Linda Jane Raymaley in New York City. They enjoyed 61 years together.
Mr. Van Name was an owner and president of several advertising and marketing companies including Communigraphics,Inc. for 24 years and BVN Marketing Inc. for 20 years. Barry was an accomplished advertiser/marketer publishing hundreds of advertisements and articles over the years. He was a past president of the Malvern Rotary Club and a past president of the Father’s Club of St. Mary’s School. Barry enjoyed photography and videography. He enjoyed fishing and boating but mostly he enjoyed sitting by the pool relaxing watching the eagles fly overhead.
Barry is not only survived by his loving wife Linda but also his sons; Christopher K. Van Name of Patterson, NY, Warren A. Van Name and his wife Michelle of Jackson, NJ, his brother Kerry E. Van Name of Woodstock, GA and his 6 grandchildren; Kristin, Alexandra, Kayla, Jessica, Dinah and Tess. He was predeceased by his dear daughter Kristin Kim Van Name.
A gathering will be held on May 22, 2021 from 12pm-2pm at the Patterson Baptist Church, Route 311, Patterson with a service beginning at 2pm. The family will be receiving friends and family at the Van Name home in Patterson, following the service. Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 south street, Patterson, NY assisted the family with arrangements.
