Obituary for Brenda Alves (Darby)
Alves, Brenda, age 77, died Friday, September 23, 2016 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Mrs. Alves was born on October 26, 1938 in Liverpool, England to William F. and Amy L. (Bews) Darby. She completed her education including nursing school in England.
After settling in the United States at age 20, Mrs. Alves married John Alves on August 12, 1961 in Mt. Kisco, NY. Mr. Alves died June 29, 2000.
Before living with her daughter Mandy for the past five years, Mrs. Alves had made her home with her daughter Jody for 10 years. She had lived in Patterson, NY for many years prior.
Mrs. Alves enjoyed reading, dancing and her family. She was a proud grandmother and had a special place in her heart for each of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Alves is survived by her five children, Lynn Brill (Barry) of Salt Pt., NY, John Alves (Tracy) of Granville, NY, Brenda Alves-Perez of Puerto Rico, Mandy Tatavitto (Chris) of Poughkeepsie, NY and Jody Alves of Highland, NY and her fiancé Michael Torres; her brother Robert Darby (Karen) of New Fairfield, CT, and her sister Christine Martelli (Pat) of Fitchburg, WI; her sixteen grandchildren, Tabatha Brill, Amanda and Jim Daniels, Jonathon Brill, Billy Brill, Barry Brill Jr., Michael Brill, Melissa Brill, Joshua Brill, Maria Alves, Priscilla Alves, Frankie Perez, Anthony Perez, Christopher Tatavitto Jr., Nicholas Tatavitto, Joseph Smith and Alex Smith; seven great grandchildren, Leeanne, Kyrie, Markieff, Orianna, Tristan, Carter and Miley. Also several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother Gordon Darby in 1946, her daughter Carol Brill in 2010 and a grandson Matthew Tatavitto in 2003.
A graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, 11:00am at Beekman Cemetery, Poughquag, NY. Friends may call at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson, NY on Tuesday from 4-8PM.
