Obituary for Edward T. Scrivani
Edward T. Scrivani, age 93, a resident of Pawling, NY, formerly 70 years in Patterson, NY, died on November 12, 2021 at the Village Crest Health and Rehab Center in New Milford, CT.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 20, 1928, Ed was the son of the late Peter and Marie (King) Scrivani. He graduated from Brewster High School in 1946. Ed enlisted in the US Army in 1946 and served in Japan from 1946 to 1948.
Ed married the love of his life, Theresa Burkhart on September 11, 1949 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY.
Ed was also a real estate broker for 42 years in Putnam, Dutchess and Westchester Counties. Ed believed you should give back to the business you are involved with and therefore spent many years serving on the Putnam County Association of Realtors, Westchester Multiple Listing Service and New York State Association of Realtors. He was voted twice as Putnam County Realtor of the year and was given the ‘Life Achievement Award’ in 2008 by Putnam County Association of Realtors.
In his earlier years, Ed was a manager of Production Control with the Pawling Rubber Company in Pawling, NY from 1950 to 1985.
Ed was very involved in many organizations in Patterson over his lifetime such as the Patterson Planning Board for 20 years, Trustee of the Patterson Library for 15 years and his special love of the Patterson Historical Society. He also was a charter member of the Patterson Rotary Club from its inception in 1987 until the present where he had served as past secretary, was the editor of the club newsletter ‘The Eye Opener ‘and held over 20 years perfect attendance.
Besides his wife Theresa of 72 years, he is survived by his 3 children, Michael Scrivani and his wife Jane of Maine, Elaine Scrivani of North Carolina and Mary Ann Hill-Pitts and her husband Michael Pitts of Pawling, NY. Also 5 grandchildren, Adrienne Mitchell and husband Jason in Pawling, Amy Kane and husband Dan of South Carolina, Carl Watson of Utah, Dan Alexis of North Carolina and Jessica Ramirez and husband Richard of Bayside, NY. Also 7 great-grandchildren, Robert, Aislin, Alexia, Justin, Sonia, William and Ava. Ed was predeceased by his brother Peter.
