William Slocum, Sr., age 91, a lifelong resident of Pawling, NY, died on April 27, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on May 26, 1927 in Sharon, CT to Benjamin Raymond and Annette (Pinckney) Slocum. He attended Pawling schools.
On December 8, 1963, Bill married the loved of his life, Bette Burgess in Dover Plains, NY.
A Forman for Hunt’s Country Furniture in Wingdale, NY for 35 years, Bill retired in 1980. Bill was also a longtime member of the Pawling Fish & Game Association and the Central Baptist Church of Pawling.
Besides his wife Bette of 55 years, Bill is survived by his children, Susan Bowden of Hopewell Jct., NY, Nancy Brazee of Wingdale, NY and William Slocum, Jr. (Kathleen) of Poughquag, NY; his five grandchildren, Melissa Birdsell, Liam Slocum, Shane Slocum, Krista Slocum and Conor Slocum; his two great grandsons, John Robert and Evan Birdsell and his great great granddaughter, Raven Birdsell.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2019 11:00am at Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson, NY. Friends may call that same morning from 10:00am to 11:00am at the funeral home. www.dwyerfuneralhome.com
